The Book

Jeffrey had an interesting experience one afternoon while working with a young couple just beginning the process of buying their first home. They were in our office talking about making an offer on a home they really loved. They wanted to know how earnest money worked, and Jeffrey had the distinct feeling of déjà vu.  Why did this feel so familiar? The feeling came again a few minutes later when talking about home inspections, and it hit him – he had answered these questions just the day before with another client… and the week before that with someone else!  It occurred to Jeffrey that there were recurring questions that ALL of our clients asked, and that it might be useful for them to see – first – that they weren’t alone in asking these questions, and – second – that the answers to the questions and the experiences of others could be a guide to help them make the right decisions while buying their home.

Homebuyers all face the same core set of issues, but no two home purchases unfold the same way.  Jeffrey wrote a book to help homebuyers feel more confident making the right decisions for themselves when purchasing a home. Think of it as spring training before the season begins – a little work now and you will be hitting a home run!

First time buying a home? Most people buying a home for the first time find they feel anxious and overwhelmed with the experience. Relax! This guide will help you understand the process and anticipate the kinds of decisions you will need to make.  Buying a home can feel like a “high-stakes” test.  This guide turns buying a home into an “open book” test where you already know the answers.  You are going to feel more relaxed because you will be prepared!

If you bought or sold a home more than three years ago, you are likely to discover that the market and the laws have changed and you may feel like a “new” homebuyer once again. Reading through this guide is a nice refresher to help you be at your best for the experience. You will be able to see how things have changed over time, and you will find the reading worthwhile.

The goal of this book is to START conversations. This book will give you enough information that you feel empowered and confident, and it will ask you the right questions now so you will have the right answers BEFORE the tough decisions arrive.
